CEVIAN, Japanese Paper interwoven Bag

What is Cevian weave?
CEVIAN, a modernized bag made of a paper weaving handed down from Ayabe, Tanba county, Kyoto through
the ages.

Cevian weave,
expressing the subtle and profound of the hand weaving and Japanese paper, handed down in the countryside of Ayabe, Tanba county, Kyoto from the ancient times, was done with beauty of the stream of the Mother Yurakawa river reflected on cloth at the hermitage next to a tearoom.

CEVIAN¡¢Cevian Weave

Keiji Umehara¡Ê92¡Ë, the master of the hermitage, developed Cevian weaving in 1976, interwoven by his own technique with a clue provided when he saw the archives at Ankoku£êi temple linked with Ashikaga Takauji. The characteristic of the material is that Japanese paper is interwoven with weft yarn by the skills of his own, which is endurable and hardly ripped, when wet in water.

We played a role of attire producing for Nomura Manojo, Kyogen player as human national treasure, and have used for politicians and entertainers who actively participate in every sector of society. It is not only Japanese classic but international to which it sticks, and the brand launched by production technique of weaving cultivated for more than 30 years since the company's establishment.

CLEVIAN using strength and pliancy of Japanese Paper

Adhering to hand making by well-trained crafters through the whole process, we produce in a beautiful fashion balance between warp threads and Japanese paper, with a stream of river reflected on cloth interwoven on our own. Unevenness of the cloth and streams of the threads represent Stream of the Yura River.
